The Petaluma City Schools Board of Education holds regularly
scheduled meetings on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month
at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the District Office at 200 Douglas
St., Petaluma. There is only one meeting scheduled during the
months of July, August, November, December and March due to
summer break, spring break, and holiday months

Under Government Code Section 54954.3(a), Members of the Public have the right to address the Governing Board on any item(s) of interest, providing it relates to the “subject matter jurisdiction” of the school district.  In accordance with Board Policy (BP-9323), each speaker is allocated a total of five (5) minutes to address the Board for a maximum of twenty (20) minutes on each subject matter. While the above referenced Government Code allows speakers to criticize the District’s policies, procedures, programs, services, and/or employees, the District does have a current policy (BP-AR 1312.1) specific to “complaints against employees”.  Should comments from the Public pertain to a specific District employee, the Board requests that the complaint first be submitted in writing to the employee’s immediate supervisor for investigation.  The Board does not take action or discuss items not appearing on the agenda.  The Board values public comments and wishes to convey that although Board members cannot discuss items that are not on the agenda, they listen carefully and appreciate and value input from the public.



The purpose of the consolidated motion is to expedite Governing Board action on all consent agenda items that are not held for discussion.  Items held, and thereby excluded from the consent agenda, will be acted upon individually.  Items that have been held for discussion by the Governing Board, staff, or members of the public, will be acted upon at the time the item is discussed.   Any item(s) can be held for discussion, removed, or deleted from the Agenda by request of a Board Member.


Regular meetings of the Governing Board, held in public, may be videotaped for future broadcast on Local Community Access TV (Channel 27).
